Monsoon Crystal Care: Protect Your Gemstones in Rainy Season
How to care for crystals and gemstones during monsoon season. Humidity protection, cleaning tips, and storage guide for rainy weather.
Why Monsoon Affects Crystals
High humidity (80-100% during Indian monsoons) can damage certain crystals. Selenite dissolves in water. Malachite, pyrite, and hematite oxidize and tarnish in moisture. Rudraksha beads can develop mold if not dried properly. Even diamond and sapphire jewelry can lose luster if metal settings corrode.
Proper care during June-September is essential to protect your crystal collection and maintain their energetic properties.
Care Tips by Crystal Type
Water-Sensitive Crystals
Selenite, halite, desert rose, celestite โ store in airtight containers with silica gel packets. Never cleanse with water. Use dry sage smoke instead.
Metal-Bearing Crystals
Pyrite, hematite, magnetite โ prone to rust. Coat with thin layer of mineral oil. Store separately from other crystals. Wipe dry immediately if exposed to moisture.
Quartz Family (Safe)
Clear quartz, amethyst, rose quartz, citrine โ water-resistant. Still avoid prolonged soaking. Dry thoroughly after rain exposure. Normal care sufficient.
Rudraksha Beads
Oil with mustard oil weekly to prevent cracking. Store in breathable cloth (not plastic). If worn in rain, dry naturally in shade โ never in direct heat. Check for mold monthly.
